Driving Directions:From the intersection of US 69 and FM 1043 in Warren, go 3.1 miles south on US 69. Turn right onto small dirt road where after 0.1 mile you will come to an old railroad grade and gate. Continue west through gate for 0.4 mile. At intersection, turn left and go approx. 365 ft. south. The cemetery is located in a grove of trees on the right, adjacent to logging road. This cemetery is highly endangered. It is not a map feature and is located in a remote area on private property that has been recently logged. It is not fenced, and there are no signs indicating a cemetery at this location. The cemetery is threatened by encroaching logging and neglect. During the survey, a recent forest fire had burned across the cemetery, damaging several of the headstones and destroying fence posts. Locally cast concrete headstones are a common feature in this cemetery, and at least one, maybe two, graves have concrete curbing. An individual plot and a family plot appear to have been enclosed with woven/barbed wire, but forest fires have destroyed the fence posts. |
