Cemetery Name Pendleton Crossing
Additional Names
Directions Located south of the Texas State Highway 21 (TX-21) Bridge which crosses the Toledo Bend Reservoir. The cemetery is located near the Sabine River channel, but the construction of the Toledo Bend Project during the 1960s resulted in the impoundment of the Sabine River from river mile 147 upstream to just above Logansport, Louisiana. The Pendleton Crossing Cemetery is situated below the reservoir's normal maximum elevation of 172 feet above mean sea level and is therefore typically inundated by the Toledo Bend Reservoir. From the Sabine County Courthouse in Hemphill, Texas, follow Main Street (TX-84) for one block and then turn left (north) onto Mann Street (TX-87IFarm-to-Market Road [FM]-83). Bear right on Sabine Street (TX-87IFM-83), and travel 0.7 miles. Bear right onto Old Sabinetown Road (FM-83) and travel 3.1 miles. Turn left onto Palo Gaucho Crossing (FM-3123), and continue 4.9 miles. Turn right onto TX-21 and travel 3.1 miles to Pendleton Bridge. The cemetery will be located on the right, south of the Texas abutment of the Pendleton Bridge.
