Driving Directions:From SH 7, go 4.5 miles north on FM 1733. Turn right at CR 1090 and go 0.2 mile east. Turn left at driveway and go 0.2 mile north to house. Cemetery is located southwest of house, across drainage, on a hilltop in pasture. A large oak tree and tall white metal cross mark the site. The cemetery is approx. 617 ft. north of CR 1090 and 433 ft. east of FM 1733. The cemetery is highly endangered. It is not a map feature and is located on private property. There are no cemetery signs and all original markers are missing. The only evidence of a cemetery at this location is a large, white, steel cross that sits in concrete base. Written into the concrete base is:Samuel PattonB 1820D 1868Family Plot. A large oak stands approx. 30 ft. due east of the cross. According to local tradition, "Patton" is carved into the tree trunk. However, during this survey, no carving was evident on the trunk.The site does not appear to be regularly maintained, other than seasonal mowing. |
