| Description |
Organized in 1881, Mitchell County built its first courthouse in 1883. It was oblong in plan with only one corridor on the ground floor. It was two storys high and had a square cupola with a steeple atop its Mansard roof. The county soon realized they had placed the courthouse on a planned street instead of off of it, so they demolished it. They built a new one in 1885. |
