Description The 1970 Madison County Courthouse is a two-story modern brick and concrete building. The primary entrances are in an inset bay on the northwest elevation, distinguished by a one-story portico supported by a single pedestal type concrete pier with an open triangular base. The symmetrical 2-story entrance bay features a marble veneer with a floating clockface, flanked by doorways and tall vertical windows on the upper floor. All other windows on the buildings are narrow and set within heavy frames that emphasize verticality in a building with a strong horizontal massing.
