| Description |
Constructed of dark red brick and limestone in the Classical Revival style. The building features a substantial limestone entablature and deep cornice, a wide central bay with an entry portico defined by corbeled arched openings, double-height fluted Ionic columns defining windows bays ornamental bas relief spandrels and supporting a balustrade and urns above the central portion of the dentiled cornice. The side bay parapet features large limestone cartouches. The secondary entry porticos are supported by double height fluted Ionic columns and pilasters and flanked by large ornamental cartouches at the parapet. |
| Modifications |
1985:- Renovated the Sheriff's, Deputies', Criminal Investigators', and Sergeants' office, as well as the secretary and receptionist area. Walls were added, moved, and taken out, ceilings were dropped and recessed florescent lighting installed.1986:- Step repair at all four entrances - Elevator and handicap ramp installed. Handicap adaptations made to the basement and second floor restooms.- Renovations made to the 3rd floor American Legion Room.-Tile replacement throughout the building. 1987- Renovation of the District Attorney's office - Dropped ceilingsand veneer wood paneling were added. The metal window covers were removed. - Rehabilitation of exterior stone, brick, mortar and wooden windows.- Tile replacement at all entrances. Marble at the Ellis St. entrance was replaced with the original marble restroom partition.- Renovations made to District Clerk's, County Clerk's and County Tax Assessor's offices.- County Judge's chambers and outer offices redone. Dropped ceilings and recessed florescent lighting installed.- Renovations made to the Farmers Home Administration office.A new computer room was added and the ceilings dropped. |
